The column shift setup has a illumination lamp to show the gear selector position.

The factory manual does not show detail for a floor shift steering column, this is 1970 E-body.

I can't tell if the floor shift column needs this lamp, but I can't see why it would.

I'm asking because to remove the lamp bracket from the collar, you actually have to cut the wire,
I don't see how this could have been assembled at the factory. So if I don't need the lamp
in the new set-up, I'll just cut it and then remove the female connector from the turn signal switch harness connector.
Don't seem right somehow.

The floor shift column itself won't need the lamp but the same circuit could illuminate the floor shift prndl indicator. I'd remove the connector from the column plug. Should be able to use a small jeweler's screw driver to bend the connector barbs in.

Once you make the change to floor shift column, the orange wire running to ignition switch plug will arrive nowhere. Will stay on female plug and won get nothing on male plug. That's how factory made it. So just need to remove the column shifter light wire and terminal from ignition switch plug.

The console needs to get couple of wires from the dash wiring provision up to console shifter assembly with a socket in the end. This wire runs from the source on dash harness ( rubber orange feed ) on bullet terminal, up to passenger side kick panel area with female packard terminal, then another wire from there ( male packard of course ) up to console down the carpet, with a socket for #57 bulb

This is the source you'll find somewhere down the dash to feed the console shifter light ( mostly sure at driver side )

And this is the repro wiring available for it
