Rebuilding a stock 440 six pack engine. It's been a number of years since I did this and I recall the mopar performance stuff was junk. What manufacturer and camshaft are you engine guys using for a stock rebuild?
I would even consider a step or 2 hotter, but want to keep stock exhaust and decent vacuum.

I've heard only good things about Bob Karakashian (‘Mr Six Pack’) cams but have never used one myself. Phone 248-477-7776.

In one of my 440s I ran an Engle hydraulic FT dual-pattern, about 234/244 @ .050 and a bit over .500 lift.
Great manners, a bit healthier than stock, very tractable with 4-speed & fairly tall final gear.
Also ran the EDM lifters (oiling hole), 1.5 roller rockers, 10.2 CR with Eddy heads, Maxie manifolds & full exhaust.
Just avoid the long-duration stuff.

I second RR's suggestion of Summit Racing's cams. I have both cams and love them. I use the smaller cam in my pickup with an auto, stock convertor and 3.23 gears. It runs great. I use the bigger cam in a 66 b-body with factory high stall convertor, 3.55 gears. The specs are .445/.465 lift, 214/224 duration @.050 for the small cam and .466/.488 lift, 224/234 duration @.050 for the larger. They both have excellent street manners. The larger cam has a slight lope at idle and pulls hard in a 440 with 9.2 compression, 452 heads and factory intake. A little more compression, better heads and intake would really wake it up.

this has been my experience. I would look no further than the 6401 cam with good lifters and crane 99839 springs.

I used those same Crane valve springs. Perfect for the 6401 cam.

Bob K's cam specs are hard to come by but they are "very" close to the old Direct Connection Street Hemi grind 280 / 474

I went with the Lunati 60302 cam in my wife's 440 six Pack Challenger.

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lun-60302

Fresh rebuilt 440 engine with Stealth aluminum heads and stock Six Pack setup.

Mild Daaco HP converter and 3.23 rear.

Engine is a great cruiser, lots of low and mid range power with great vacuum.

I second that Lunati cam. It's in my '71 GTX with a six barrel. "Mini Mayhem"-love what they call it.

some years back bob k. gave the specs to his cam. they were engles at that time and I regret throwing that magazine away that had an article about his car. anyhow, from what I remember his cams are no where near that old '214 cam. from what i remember his cams are pretty mild. unfortunately people tout these cams but nobody degrees one in to know the specs or have any track times to put with the specs. I did use a hughs/engle 2330 once in a 6pak and it worked pretty good. down side to the 2330 is the lift requires shortening the valve guide boss's for retainer to seal/guide clearance. a summit 6401 using factory retainers and the crane springs is pretty much a no-brainer with factory valvetrain. hopefully someday somebody will put a degree wheel and some track times on the bob k. cams.

Maybe Crower 271HDP. Allmost the same to the Lunati suggested but a bit more Exhaust duration and bit more Intake lift. I'm using 282HDP and is just a bit lumpy but plenty for a street car with A/C ( allmost street values on good vacuum and iddle ). So I think one step lower will be more stockish iddle if you want that

I run the Lunati that is one step hotter than the one already mentioned. Old part number 60303. .493/.513. 70 440 Cuda, power brakes, 4 speed.
I get 11inhg vacuum. Just enough for reliable brakes, but that’s all dependent on your idle rpm. Mine is at 750rpm.

With an automatic I would recommend at least a 2200rpm stall (which is still pretty tight, a lot of stock converters will easily stall this high behind a 440).

Power band goes to about 6200, high enough for me.

I installed a Hughes HEH 1928 BL . Very happy with it, Stock manifolds, 9.14:1 CR with quench pistons, 3.55 gears, 727, 6 bbl carbs. CR is a critical parameter when selecting a Camshaft.

You won't go wrong with anything recommended, IMO. Any 218° - 224° @ 0.050" on the intake and with a 112° - 114° LSA will work well with what your doing. Picking the best one in that range will be splitting hairs.

I used the MP 272 - 0.455" cam (221° @ 0.050 w/ 112°lsa) in a 4200 lb, 6bbl, exhaust manifold, car w/ 3.23 and went high 12s at 108+ mph.
