I'm bored and I plan on firning the engine soon, and getting some track time by the end of the month. so here goes I'd like to see 12.30's

70 Charger (no heater box or headlight buckets) Stock Interior. column shift, 318 t-bars.
Standard bore 440, TRW 6-pack pistons (.020), ported 516 heads 74cc using Fel-Pro headgasket (approx 10.75:1) w/ 2.14/1.81 (flow 260/190), 528 solid cam, 1.5 roller rockers, Aluminum 6-pack set-up. (carbs will be adjusted well before running), MP distrib, MSD wires, coil, headers, 3" all the way to the bumper, 727 w/ performance build, 2600-2800 stall, 3,91's. I will be running slicks, probably an L60-15.

I ran a 12.16 in my car with a very simular combo. I had the 282 DC cam and stock heads. I had 10.7-1 compression. Mind you, the weather was perfect. I would normanl run in the 12.3-4 range though.

a 28x10.5x15 slick is not enough? I'll probably use ET streets or a similar type.

I think you're about 1/2 second on the optimistic side. But I could be wrong...

I didn't do the build. All I know is they are forged 6-pack pistons (with the reliefs) and they measure about .020 in the hole.

nah I ran 12.90's in a 67 coronet (3900lbs w/ me) w/ a maybe 9:1 440, stock 906 heads, Summit 488 cam, rpm intake 750DP and headers. With a similar stall and 3.91's. This car is lighter, has more compression, better heads, better cam, better exhaust, and better carbs...should be better than a tenth faster. Buddy ran 11.80's on a stock 67 GTX w/ a similar set-up...his heads were a little better and he ran a 509 w/ 4.10's. Not that I expect to get close to 11's....but jeesh I hope it's better than 12.80's

Jeff, I'm thinking your looking at high 12's low 13's there. I'll go with 13 flat.

12.50 or faster if properly tuned,i,d guess low 13,s to start with and progressing to the 12.50 range after you figure out how to make it happy. Good luck

I agree. the cam you are using isn't that great. 509 in our experience will give you more but not as nice mannered. A little more gear would help too.

Clean it, if it's Dirty. Oil it, if it Squeaks. But: Don't fix it, if it Works!

FWIW,

My old 440 was 10.5 to 1 with ported 452s. 509 Cam, m1 intake, 800 DP, 10 inch converter that flashed right at 4k, 4.30 gear, 3850 lbs. Ran a best of 12.46

Id think that charger shoud weigh really close to 4k if not a hair over.

IMO, you need way more converter.

Id say high 12's at best.

72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72. Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

13 flat? come on...this car is lighter than my 67...and it has way more motor. was the 67 a fluke or something? I'l be really P/O'd if it doesn't run at least 12.50.
