i have a 68 barracuda, putting on 73 to 76 disc brakes. i want to put them on the opposite side so i can use my swaybar. my question is. does having the calipar in the back affect the braking. has anybody done this. i know it works. just looking at the braking performance end of it.
thanks dave

My '68 a-body has the caliper upgrade and their mounted in the front of the '73spindles. I added a larger diameter than stockFirmFeel front swaybar with no issues. The brackets for that specific swaybar use the lower shock mount bolt to attach to the lower control arm.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

you can swap them side to side with no problems.

the spindles are centered to the ball joint, so you can use them on either side. i am just asking if braking is better with the calipar in the front or in the rear or it doesn't matter.

so your saying keep the calipar in the front. use the 68 stock swaybar and shorten the links. so the calipar clear the swaybar.

From what I've read and heard on this subject, it doesn't matter, front or rear placement. It's the brake line and routing that becomes an issue. I have them on the front on my '68 a-body and on the rear on my '70 e-body using the same spindles, but different calipers and brake lines. Doctor Diff sourced the parts including braided steel lines for the rear mount on the '70 e-body. He rocks when it comes to this stuff!

The original 68 disc setup had the calipers rear mounted ...

yes,the rear mounted calipers are more effective, but we're pretty much limited to disc brake swaps for the 62-65 B body MOPARs, so we put in the 73-76 A body systems with the calipers out front. they lack adequate stopping power in the 1/4 mile stretches with these heavier cars, but believe me when I say, the A body system is "loads" better than the original drum brakes.
Why can't you put them on the rear ?
