When the price for a BB 509 cam kit went to $500, I just assumed that was FCA's way of letting everyone know they weren't interested in selling those anymore.

Todd is Correct Nostalgia Purple Plus has nice lobe that makes better power than old Mopar cams and is very easy on the valvetrain We LOVE'Em and highly suggest you let Todd send you one--You will be very pleased!! The biggest one with some Sidewinder heads in a 440 with compression is a very hot combo

Step up and buy a good cam, not some low priced piece of junk designed in the 1970s Lots of way better choices out there now on camshaft packages

I like the Comp XS282S as a great alternative to the MP528 cam in applications where the 2deg tighter lsa won't be a problem.
Of course, you can get something taylored to your specific needs as well.
I have a new BB MP 528 cam I could probably persuaded to part with.

I've always loved the solid purpleshaft cams, they've always been a huge bang for the buck. But now that I've seen where the prices have gone on them I would suggest a custom solid or save up for a good roller. I bought my 590 solid purpleshaft for '$169 with lifters' from Summit Racing, went 9.89 at 136mph in my 451 motor at 3050 pounds. My current car has the 557 that I bought off Sport440 for 50 bucks, I bought some solid lifters from Summit for less than a 100 bucks. I drive the car to the track, run 10.60's and drive it home on 93 octane with 3.23 gears. So I'm not happy to see that the prices have shot up but I'd never say that they are outdated '70's junk(internet myth). If I were to build a car today to run 9.50's I would have no problem with putting that old 590 in the motor.

I'd agree also, a few years back I rounded up all the parts from a 440 I built in the 80s, TRWs 9.5, 452 heads with 2.14 1.81s and just a basic blue print. I had a NOS 557 cam on my shelf so in it went, and for kicks and giggles put it on the dyno, 520hp 545tq.. Not bad for motor you could change the cam and springs and put it in an rv.
Have a great day Iowan
