If you have a steel cut off wheel on a grinder that is the best way. I use, duct tape, a sharp chisel, a 2.5lbs short handle hammer, the cement on the drive or garage and one good whack! It may take 2-3 though. In the 2-3 case better hope your name is not lightining. You know it never hits the same place twice.

You need some reinforced tape to wrap the end (this keeps the wire from fraying. A cutoff wheel, or a pair of good snips, or cutters. I prefer the cutters over the cutoff wheel/grinder cause this tends to burn the rubber up at the end hose.

I like using a abrasive chop saw. Makes a perfect cut that doesn't fray the stainless braid. Wrap it in masking tape and cut. Besure to rinse out the inside of the hose before and after installing the ends. A die grinder with a cutoff wheel will do the trick too.

Do you guys keep the tape on the ends when you assemble the hose end?
no, take it off being careful not to screw with the braided line.

A couple raps of masking tape works well, i use a thin cutoff wheel on a 4 1/2 " grinder. I cut in the middle of the tape so the next piece is ready to go. I do leave the tape on to install the fitting to contain the braid so it doesn't fray, after starting remove the tape and continue install. I think which ever way you do it,it is most critical you flush the lines out throughly. It doesn't take much to jam your needle/seat in your carb and you sure don't want that crap in your oil if your plumbing a oil set up.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Black tape end, metal hose clamp tight and cut with cutoff wheel as close to the clamp as possible-
That is a good method. The clamp will help keep the cut straight all the way around. As other's have stated, clean out the hose after cutting with an abrasive wheel.

I used to use the wizz wheel but for 35.00 I broke down and bought a cutter at Home Depot that is much easier and leaves a cleaner cut
BINGO,works great and also crimps the hose in slightly so it slides easily into the fitting.

Something like that is much better. Go to an electrical supply house and buy a big pair like linemen use to cut cable about 3.5 feet long and they'll cut everything up to -16. No taping, grinding, or cleanup mess.

Nice !
but if i use those, how am i supposed to cut my fingers
Just use your second knuckle as the cut off mark, place finger on hose for length, insert both finger and hose into jaw, place bottom handle against bench, and press firmly against the upper handle with free hand. then go to wallace racing calculators to calculate potential Et savings being light one finger.

Two or three tight raps of duct tape and the finest tooth hacksaw blade I have, put the hose in a vise and saw away A real thin cut off wheel in a high rpm(23000+ ) four inch air powered dremel or grinder works well also as already siad

I agree also, I have a large set that can cut up to #12 with no problem.
Mike Gray
where do you get a set like that
Grainger, McMaster Carr, sometimes hardware stores will have a nice set too.
