What all is involved in putting a big block in a 1962 Dart where a slant six was before?
What headers fit best? Thanks in advance, Bob

The 1962 Dodge and Plymouth B body K member, steel engine mounts and rubber motor mounts are one year only shock scope I am in the middle of doing a 1966 Dodge Coronet 6 cylinder to 440 V8 conversion and I decided to buy a 1968 to 1970 B body V8 K member as well as engine and motors mounts so everything would be like the factory did and the later K member moves the engine back and down like it would be in the 1966 to 1970 B body so all of those headers in these early cars also thumbs scope I have a 1963 Plymouth Fury that will end up with the same later B body K member and mounts and headers up
Maybe you should consider this path also work
Good luck, aren't these conversions lots of fun whistling

Schummacer should have the mounts and adapters.I know Imperial services had ones for the kids 62 300 years ago in poly.Oh there are no B bodys in 62 that didnt start till 65.Most call them Bs though.Dart was just mid sized car.And the lower lever trim.Rocky

These are O.E.M. brackets, what you need to use the 62 K member. The only disadvantage I see with the later K member is that fact that the motor is set back and additional modifications are necessary other than just changing the k member.

Just for general knowledge the 1962 Dart was the last appearance of the 4-barrel 318 Poly which had a higher performance camshaft as well.

If the engine goes rearward, so does the trans mounting pad, and the headers or manifolds. It's a nice way to shift weight, as those cars were a bit light in the rear %-wise, but you'd be wise to mock it all up.
I would assume that the 1962 S6 K has a specific mounting tower, right?

Oh, and you'll have to look at speedo cable & E-brake cabling as well when going with later drivetrain in an early B.
Imperial Services has the speedo cable ('66 Charger, IIRC), and I used a '68-up E-brake cable setup on my '63.

I've done several late k-member swaps into a '62 Dart, this moves the motor back 1 5/8" which gives more fan clearance and allows later exhaust to fit. The only real clearance problems are the pinch weld where the floorboard meets the toe board, just hammer it flat and, with a 727, some of the formed bumps in the tunnel might need massaging with a BFH.

Of course, rear trans mounts require fab and longer shift/speedo cables might be needed.

Steve, the mounting surface on the S6 is flat hence the angled brackets to go to a V8.

So the later 66-70 K-members will bolt in with no major modifications?
