To delay the opening, turn the black plastic housing in the direction of the arrow. Turning the housing tightens the spring that closes the choke butterfly, so more tension on the spring will cause the choke to stay closed longer.

I spliced the electric choke hot wire on my E-Brock #1406 to the field wire that goes to the alternator...NOT the power wire. The field wire is a light gauge and is only hot when the key is on. The instructions do say not to wire to the alternator and I am sure they say that so that a Chevy guy does not burn his car to the ground

What kind of choke? Aftermarket like a holley or edelbrock you can tie into the power wire that feeds the coil, so long as you do it before the ballast resistor. Best is to follow the wire back to where it gets its power from, mine has a junction relay block on the firewall with a switched 12v feed. Stock chokes with electric assist need the temp switch that threads into the intake manifold or else the choke will open too fast. I wire that into my Ebrock chokes as well, worked fine for me.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.
