Here's a picture of the bottom of my K frame. It looks like it's concave in the middle and has some metal overlapping. Is this the way it should look?

If you have a welder, you can cut out the damaged area, pound it straight and reweld back on. I know someone who did that and at the same time from the back reinforced that area so it does not happen again.

Definitely is , combo of jacking it there AND bottoming out .

1fastrunner , whats the original engine for your car ??? you could HIDE that damage by adding a repop skidplate

I agree with it appearing damaged and here is my factory K-member outta my '72 Gtx a plate will protect and cover that. I don't know how the repo plates fit...

your car would not have had one , if it did it would be bashed in also as the factory one isn't that stout . If your pan is hanging below the K , which it looks like , you definitely want to add one . Yes a repop is available from the usual sources ...

You should see the old pan (7qt.), it was jb welded and duct taped at a Syracuse show the driven to Rochester. It's now hanging on the wall in my garage(duct tape and all).

how bout a picture, that should be fun to see

btw, i put one of the repop skid plates on mine... not sure how well it will fit with all that damage though. you would have to put it in place and see if it will work. it doesn't look like it will hide all that damage either, so depends how much you want to put into it.

isn't that always the question.

Yes, the skid plates are available. I was at the Columbia Mo swap meet and saw that MegaParts had them new for about $75-$80.

Are you worried about it's appearance or structural integrity? If the LCA pivot tubes aren't damaged, and the car held a wheel alignment, I can't see why a new K frame would be needed. I would remove it, clean it up, touch up all the factory welds, and fashion a skid plate from plate steel. I think the Car Farmer web site had some skid plates for sale at one time but they are not in business, but it would give some ideas of what to fab up.
