I've never played with a DOT tire but in my car I've run with and without tubes. With the tubes it gave me a stiffer side wall and increased the life of the side walls by a good 40%-50% more runs. When I get rid of my tires there's plenty of rubber left but the sides are going away

The downsides are that you have to screw the rim or you could pull the valve out if the bead slips-this has caused some serious issues over the years, the extra weight costs some ET and the tubes will not allow the tire to lay perfectly flat. If you are bracket racing the last 3 hundredths don't really matter so extra tire life may be a reason to use them. Don't forget that good tubes cost over a hundred bucks apiece.

I dont know about you but I run 45 psi in my fronts
but low pressure in the rears(6.75 psi)and with the
low pressure there isnt alot to hold them on... but
like I said.... to each his own

Buy the new slicks, soap them up and run them until you start having to pump them up more than you would like. Then if you still have tread left put in the tubes. Some guy's change there slicks more than they change their underwear, some change them after they start to rot.
it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

Rip a tube and you are done. Get a small hole in a tire - plug it and keep going.
No tubes = less rotating weight and less $ spent
Tubes = stiffer sidewall - but I can order tires with that already built in.
 ever see a tube get wadded up in the tire?

If installed correctly they won't wad up, every one i have changed out never had a wrinkle in them. If installed correctly , having the tire desoaped, is that a word? [ cleaned and dry ] then use lots of tire talc to keep the tube from binding you'll have no problem.
