unless you were having problems with the existing bearings, i would just swap the cam, I have done it before.

or,

if the cam manufacture recommends a specific bearing, then i would swap the bearings.

you are pulling the eng correct? I would install new cam bearings. they are a major oil leak and anything you can do to reduce that is good including reducing the oil to them (if this is a low po DD then I can see leaving them alone). you would have to borrow the driver or pay your shop to do em

A rev limiter.

I had run hydraulics for many, many years before I ran my first solid and had never had a rev limiter. Since I had never had a problem, I didn't think that I needed one.

Without going into all the details, the solid will rev so much higher (whether you mean it to or not) that I believe a rev limiter is a must.

I don't change cam bearings unless they are bad or the engine block is going to be hot tanked.

Cam bearings are MUCH easier to install when the crank/rods/pistons are out of the block. Unless you're tearing the whole thing down or the bearings are bad, I would leave them alone.Yep, you will need new push rods.Mock it all up,measure and have a good company make you some up, I used Smith Bros.Good luck on your upgrade!

No need to change the cam bearings. Take a close look at the timing chain and replace it if it has any excess slack. Inspect the gear on the idler shaft. You'll also need an adjustable valve train...
