What gains can be expected from a 5.7 by adding a 6.1 cam and springs with all else remaining stock? Case in point,2004 Durango, stock exhaust, maybe some port cleanup since it is apart. Thanks,RT

Supposed to be a 25-30 hp boost. Best results are from advancing it 8 degrees from where the factory installed it (121 ICL from the factory, should put it in at 113, cam has a LSA of 117). I'd definitely put headers on it to get the most from the cam, the stock exhaust manifolds are TERRIBLE! Does that year of Durango share the same frame/platform as the similar year Grand Cherokee? If so Jeep SRT manifolds would be the way to go. You also need 6.1 exhaust springs for both intake and exhaust and 6.1 pushrods.

Thanks for the replies.I don't think it is the same as the Jeep GC,the Durango is body on frame.Even the stock manifolds are a tight fit,and I agree, they don't even look like they flow well.Logs they are!

The newer Jeep SRT's with the 6.4 use a nice swoopy cast manifold that might fit (fairly cheap to). The older 6.1 Jeeps (06-10) used a shorty header from the factory that look quite compact, might be worth a try. Looks like JBA makes a header for the Hemi Durangos

Engine swaps . com has a long tube headers for the Dakota 98 to 04. Might want to look at them.
I know your Durango is not the same platform but the hemi is a tight fit in the Dakota.

Yes, I put it in my 68 Cuda to test out the intake manifold in a super mild street carbureted combination. I only have 5 runs on it so far with a best of 13.24@104.0mph.
