Yep I did the same conversion, 35 spline aftermarket axles/side gears/clutch kit. Cass was very helpful and reasonable on cost.
AFAIK the axles will also fit into a 35 spline spool without a problem, but if you use the spool you have to use green bearings not the oe tapered rollers.
The increased OD of the 35 spline axle is past the splined area...oe 23 spline necks down past the splines, 35 spline aftermarket is about the same thickness all the way down to the wheel flange.

I take that back Cass, those are definitely the best prices. All I remember was at the time I found them cheaper....I stand corrected though
Cass is awesome to deal with! Got my 35 spline axles from him for a great price, and the product was excellent

I think I was out of the 35 spline internals at the time.

My question, why? I doubt they'll ever break on the street. Imagine how many of those rears went into all brands of race cars back in the day, with no changes.

Not enough if your making decent power(500+) and the chassis hooks well I've broke stock axles with less Go for the 35 splines while you can still sell your old ones

About 4,500 foot pounds of momentary torque, the 35 spline almost is about 44# more. Somewhere around 6000. That is dump the clutch and sticky tires and break a shaft torque.... My question, why? I doubt they'll ever break on the street. Imagine how many of those rears went into all brands of race cars back in the day, with no changes. My question, why? I doubt they'll ever break on the street. Imagine how many of those rears went into all brands of race cars back in the day, with no changes. I was thinking the same thing, how much power can the 23's take? If you're racing a heavy car with 14" tires and dropping the hammer and dead hooking, then by all means go 35, no brainer. All else will suffice. Street car? Waste of money. "If" they brake replace with the 35 stuff. Chrysler did offer large diameter 23 spline axels (short and long) before the aftermarket axel guys got up and running.
