Hey Guy's. back to working on a project after a long time away due to health issues. have a question regarding a Hurst Quarter Stick auto shifter I purchased like new, barely used. it's in a Duster, 727 standard V.B. when I pull stick all the way to rear, i can bump forward to 2nd, but have to pull lever to go to 3rd. should I be able to bump to 3rd without pulling lever ? unhooked cable at shifter & still the same(hoping to rule out adjustment at trans being the problem).is this the correct way this thing should function, or is something not correct ? Thanks, Tom

That's how it's supposed to work.

well Darn, don't know why I thought I would be able to go though all gears by slapping stick forward. Thanks Guy's.

When we were running the 3 speed, we had one set up to make the critical 1-2 shift with air and the 2-3 shift by hand. Worked great, especially with the 2.74. Uncomplicated, easy, consistent.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Thats the reason I went with the Pro Ratchet..
just keep hitting the handle... my Quick Silver
I have to lift the handle from drive to get neutral
or reverse and park.. it has its pluses and minuses

I drive mine a lot on the street so I'm used to it.

Never an issue.
