People seem to prefer the Mancini, but their is a significant price difference with the 440 source. I remember years ago there was threads and arguments about the quality of the 440 source water pump housing. I know they've corrected problems on other parts they've offered over the years, so I want to know how ya'll feel about the CURRENT quality of their WP Housing and if it is equal to the mancini?

Back up a step and ask yourself where these parts come from. Neither 440Source nor Mancini has their own manufacturing facility. The parts are sourced from somewhere and as they're both in the business of making money, they have to get their parts from someone who makes enough of them to have economy of scale.
This points to both parts coming out of the same factory somewhere, and it's probably in China. I have no complaints about that. The number of Americans who want to work casting parts has dwindled sharply in the last 40 years. Of course there are nearly 100 million adult US citizens who aren't working, but just try to get them near a foundry!

So I'd suggest saving the money. If you feel for Mancini, send them a check.

R.

Mancini has (or had) a deal on the housing, pump, and neck for a very competitive price. AND they have a 10% discount going on, I think. So there is not that much difference in price between the two.

Personally, I have had mixed success with 440 Source. Half the stuff I have bought from them has been fine. And half has been junk that they would do nothing about. If fact, they didn't even want to hear about it.

I have never had any problem with anything from Mancini. But their stuff is usually more expensive.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

I am running the 440source combo and it is working real good. BB duster stays at 180 no matter what.

There a few of the old production 440 Source units that were smaller. they have been superseded. No problems with the new ones. They are good about returns.

I have used a ton of 440source stuff my last few builds with great results. I also use a ton of Mancini parts as well. If the prices are comparable or its a name brand part I buy from Summit, Jegs, or Mancini. A ton of the dress up, fabricated, etc type parts I buy from 440source including the water pump, housing, etc.

I think that Mancini sells the water pump housing from PRW. Not sure if it is the same housing that 440Source sells or not. One would have to buy both and compare them to be sure. It isn't a huge market so I doubt that very many folks created their own tooling. I'm pretty sure that the Mopar Performance housing is different than the China housing, at least it used to be. But MP might have decided to source from China also. I think MP used to get the housing from a casting vendor in Canada but all that could've changed by now to. All it takes is a phone call and a signature on a change order and a procurement agent can change the vendor.

I bought a 440 Source housing and pump two years ago. Water passages look just like a stock housing. Motor stays nice and cool, it's a 500 hp 451 in a street car.
