Since I guess nobody makes or at least I cant seem to find a 28x10 radial slick (not street radial, full racing slick); is any one brand of bias slick more stable at speed than others?
In the past Ive only used MT slicks. I had a set of 26X8s that were way squirrely on top. Set of 28x10s that werent near as bad.
Just looking for some opinions.
Thanks as usual.
72 RR, Pump gas 440, 452s, 3800 lbs, Corked, ET Radials,. 11.33@117.72.
Same car, bone stock 346s, 9.5 comp, baby solid. 12.24@110.

If you had enough air in it and you still felt it was loose on the top end go with a stiff sidewall or put tubes in them EDIT sorry you said no full slicks

Your car didnt pick up using the ET street radials? I picked up over .400 going to the street radial from the ET slick and dropped 60' time from 1.47 to 1.36....Phill
over a tenth 60 ft. by going from slicks TO Drag Radials?!!! no other changes? Really?
Yes, ask some guys here, most will say that the street Radials are faster then the slicks by a few tenths on a good track, my old car always hooked unless the track was way bad....Phill

If you want to run a slick go with a radial.
Id like to but as I said, I cant find one short enough. I dont want to change gears just to run a radial slick.

My son and I both like the way out Hoosier QTP tires handle.
Ron, I tried the QTPs when they first came out. I couldnt get a bite with them. I also didnt care for the way they handled on the street. I know alot of guys like them, but they didnt work so well for me.
Wish I could find a set of slicks for free!

Actually in my experience M/T's have a stiffer sidewall than many. If you were unstable at speed I'd say that you were underinflated or undersized. Street/strip radials require some pretty specific chassis tuning to work real well. I suggest you stay away from them unless they are required to make a class. ET streets both biased and radial(see above comments) work pretty well with the biased a little more consistant and the radial a touch quicker.
Bob, I am using ET street radials now. On my car they are touchy to PSI, a hair too much or too little and they wont bite. When they bite, they bite good.
My best 60 is only 1.60, so I was gonna try a set of slicks and see if I can improve on that.
'Course I still only have 4.5 inches of travel in the front. Calvert is dead set you need 5 inches minimum. The car trys to transfer weight then unloads too quick. I also havent played with the bars and rear shocks enough.

If you have stability problems, make sure your wheel width is wide enough. Most Stock racers use 10" rims with 9" slicks. Worn rear or front suspension components can also be a factor. I use Hoosier lightweight radial slicks. But I usually run on pretty well prepared tracks. Hoosier does have a variety of sizes to choose from and a call to them could also be helpful. Heres a pic of the cuda on MT street radials, 1.36 60' Times. This pic is almost at the 60' box and still hanging the hoops. Not bad for a street car.
Phil, how much spray on that launch... looks good

Have you tried ET streets biased? They may work better for you. The Calvert bars do need a full 5 or more but you may be able to bandaid with the correct tires.

Raff, that was with a 200 HP hit,it ran 10.30's in the pic, but found out later that the NOS line was 85% blocked off with some lint in the filter screen. Once I got that out it ran 10.teens at LVD on the same jetting.
