Can anyone explain to me how to position the turn signal tang on my 71 Charger r/t w/tuff wheel? I've tried and tried and I never quite get it in the right place to cancel the turn signal after making a turn. Mechanically everything is there and in working order. I just can't get them to do their job correctly and at the correct time.
Thanks

Are you sure the cancel cam isn't just worn out? I didn't know you could adjust them. I've only seen signal switches and cancel cams that can only be screwed down in one position.

Facts are stubborn things.

What larry said, look again & see what is broken/missing likely on the plastic "cam". there's a tab that kicks it back off as you come back to center/straight ahead

Depending on the application, there may be an adjustment. On my 65 Polara w/tilt column, there's a fairly heavy snap ring with a protruding tab that cancels the turn signals and it can need adjustment. I had to mess with mine quite a while to get it right when I changed steering wheels.

The canceller tang should be directly opposite the center of the turn signal switch IE: 180 degrees twocents

This is what I'm talking about! At what position is this "tang" positioned when the steering wheel is in the normal straight position?

Hurray, this is the answer I was looking for. Now I know where I need to adjust it to! I really appreciate this. It's been bugging me for several years because it would leave the signal flashing after the wheel returned to the straight ahead position and I'd have manually put the lever back in the neutral position after each turn.

The tuff wheel crush can is indexed too, right, like it can only go on one way due to a big keyway tang in it to mesh with the steering shaft? I have a similar issue after adding a tuff wheel to a 75 A body. Will have to investigate this...

Check out this thread in particular entry 229568 on how I found a simple way to adjust it once you determine where it should be positioned.
