I'm in the process of wiring a 72 Duster with a 440, Mopar orange ignition box and internally regulated Denso alternator. I'm looking for any wiring diagram that can help me with this. I already bypassed the AMP gauge and ran the shunt wire from the alternator to the starter relay. I need to know how to bypass the factory voltage regulator and where to pull the ignition switched wire for the denso alternator. I can't find any wiring diagrams that even remotely explain this. Any help is appreciated!

IIRC the 72 duster will have a 2 field wire alternator.

One of those wires is key on 12v power. use that for your alternator. The other wire goes to the regulator.

As for the igntion box, I believe there is a diagram in the tech archives.

It's petty basic too. 4 of the wires get used. 1 is key on power, 2 are for the distributor pickup wires, and the 4th goes to the negative side of the coil.

do not purchase an orange box. On the pentastar ECU connector the blue/yellow goes to switched 12V which is the blue ign1 (run) lead that T's to the upstream end of the ballast resistor & to one of the OE field terminals at the alt. the black/yellow goes to the coil neg primary terminal. the red/green is unused unless you are using a 5 pin ECU with a functioning 5th pin which is only applicable on OE 5 pinners (parts house 5 pinners have a dummy 5th pin, if it ohms infinity then it is a dummy & no need to use the red/green pigtail). the other 2 wires go to the dist zig zag pull apart connector (I forget which is which/see archives). How many terminals does the denso alt have? I ain't up on it but others are.

The Denso alternator has three wires on the plug. A sense wire, 12 v switched wire and a wire for the alt. light. Haven't figured out where to run the switched wire, I'm not using the alt light wire, and I'm running the sense wire to the starter relay.

I did buy the rev-n-ator orange box not the Mopar one. Hopefully it's alot better than Mopar.

the blue wire ign1 (run) circuit that T's & goes to the upstream side of the ballast resistor/to one of the alt fields/to the reg side terminal is a switched 12V source. If that is what is needed for the Denso then use the blue wire with the female connector that was on one of the OE alt field terminals ('70 & up system I'm assuming)

I will give that a shot. Thanks
