A friend of a friend supposedly has one of each and may want to sell them as he is a GM guy, I know the B-body is wider and the fact the car housings have provisions for a pinion snubber, I was curious on the casting or stamped numbers on the axles of them both, maybe I can make a deal for both and save them, assuming hes not full of crap and they are actually truck rears....thanks!

The BOM number was what I was wondering about, do you know what number they should have on it for a E or B Dana, how do you tell the year?, thanks guys!

I knew the width difference being roughly 3", the BOM numbers or casting numbers was the part I was curious about.

When you say drum to drum is it the backside of the drum edge that overlaps the backing plate or the drum face?

Unless it is a 71/2 B which is wider than an E.
