I just bought a Factory Cargo Lamp Switch with bezel and wiring harness. It is of the '72 - '80 Style as is the truck it is going into.

My '74 was originally a Utility Bed Truck, so it did not come with the Cargo Light Option. The Utility Bed is long gone, replaced by an 8-foot Sweptline Bed.

Where on the Dash is the Factory On/Off-Indicator-Light Switch/Bezel, supposed to be mounted?

See attached. It is the switch right next to the steering column.

Thanks for the quick reply and picture.

Wonder if that would be the same location for my '74?

Also, do you happen to have a picture of the Light itself? I have the Switch, Bezel and Wiring, but I still need to get a Cargo Lamp housing, or until then, mount a generic one to.the cab.

Thanks Again.

Sorry for the bad pics. This is a 75 W100, so I'd assume its the same. This is the best pic I have of the light.

Thanks. The picture is good enough. Was just wondering what it should look like.

72-80 all the same, perhaps this is a better pic of the dash.

Thanks for the reply and pic. Was wondering, does the plastic bezel mount to the flat surface of the metal dash, or is there an oval-shaped hole cut into the metal dash?

Since my truck did not come with this factory option, currently there is only a nickel-sized hole near the steering column. Would I need to cut out a larger hole in the sheet metal to mount this correctly?

There is an oval shaped hole, as thre is an indicator light next to the switch. If you have the bezel you will see how it attatches.

I don't know about that. This was in a 76.

Thanks for the replies.

The first picture (1976) is what the switch and bezel I bought look like (knob with light to the left in bezel), but I don't have a precut hole in the metal dash of the size and shape to fit the bezel into and mount it flush.

So, it looks like I will need to cut an oval hole in the dash.

I found a pic that shows the hole. It's pretty big so you can see some detail.

This pic shows the difference in roof lines, but it's the best pic of a cargo light I have.
