OK you know that a 727 will take out your 8 track if you do burn outs in first with a manual valve body--Right? The sprag fails and BOOM! I have done it--most Mopar racers have done ONE--but then we learn--OK..here is what happens when 727 explodes--shoves engine into radiator--this 440 was finished and sent out a few weeks back--it ran GREAT! Made some good HP with Sidewinders and .509 ( yea..the ole good one) during recent burn out "stunt" trans goes Pow! and customer advises engine has a tight spot now--OK bring it and we will look--HOLY SMOKES!! Yanked the pan and here is what we found

Guessing this ain't covered under warranty
I have seen some wild ones but this is one for the record book. Trans exploded so hard it shoved engine through the radiator and did not do the rest of the car any favors either--Engine would still turn but was a little tight--crank was magged a few weeks before this by me and was AOK
I guess the sudden stop got her

ive seen a steel ford crank do that, but never a mopar big block.and the occasional cast sm block stroker crank.but thats what them sm block guys get when they race with a 300 dollar crank.thats one place i never buy cheap,i use winberg.they are truly a work of art..

I spun a rod bearing in a 426 wedge and it ran but would not idle
My fault, I just got the car and it was low on oil
Unfortunately that is the hard way to learn, but you never forget. Every time I break something I learn something new.

I looked at a '70 383 Roadrunner that had a broken crank and still ran. Sounded like somebody was in the pan hitting the block with a big hammer.

I have a crawler-loader that has a 4 cyl diesel in
it... I broke the crank in it right under the #2 main
bearing.. I did it twice the same way.. it would just
loose power and a minor knocking... the main thing
it was a MAJOR PITA to get it fired up.. basically
it turned into a 2 cyl engine... I found out later
that the previous owner blew the head off the engine
using starting fluid.. I believe he cracked the crank
and bent the block

I used to have a "conversation shelf" in my office with stuff like that on it. Was he running a motor plate or conventional motor mounts? His 8 track still work??

Going to save and re-use that rear seal?

I once got a Coronet wagon with a 360 with a motor noise. Didn't figure it out until it wouldn't move. Crank broke on an angle between the #6 rod and the 4th main. It would start and run ok. The flexing of the crank finally broke the flex plate.

Should of built the complete trans to match the motor.

Trans was not our doing. The new one is. Well known brand three letters TURNS to CRAP INSTANTLY. New trans has a proper Griner Low band apply valve body and good guts.
Motor mount was elephant ear type.
The motor shut off instantly when it popped. Barely nicked the rod. COULD easily been a total loss.
