The hoses are being reproduced, offering such detail might prove counter productive to making future sales.

Oh trust me, I've noticed! MOST reproduction hoses (even those stamped "correctly") vary a little (or in some cases A LOT) from original. Plenty of room for improvement in this category.

I am already in process of laying the groundwork for properly reproducing the "KV" and "KV-Dash" hoses, in 1/4", 5/16, and 3/8 (3/8 in both standard and dash configuration). Nothing imminent at this time, but updates to follow as we get closer.

I'm not one of them, I haven't stamped any. I will say this, from the product I've seen so far I wouldn'y use the same ink that the hoses out there now have anyway because it's FAR to easy to wipe off. Something more resilient is needed. There are some special inks out there made for stamping rubber that have a tougher grip and are resistant to some common oil based chemicals and cleaning products, it doesn't appear than anyone making KV hoses are using it. Most of the KV hoses on the market can be wiped clean with dry fingers and a little pressure.

The ink IS the primary focus of my current research, and I am working with an outside company on this. If I am not satisfied with the results, the project will not be advanced. I do not anticipate any further updates for at least 30-45 days, while this issue is being investigated.

Original KV stamp was actually quite dull as compared to any of the over bright ones out there today

As were most of the other stampings on rubber and hoses of the day (not just white either, yellow, and red were sometimes used in various applications).

I've used commercially avaialable stamping inks that come in squeeze tubes, PK Neuses is one of the companies there is also a company in Texas that sells it but I can't remember the name right now.

As with most things the technique varies the end result very much. What I have found is that in order to not have the hose smudge, thin the ink out with a little bit of acetone on a platen, spread it out with a roller and have it a little tacky before you put your stamp in it. Using this technique the results I have seen is that the stamp ink bleeds into the hose almost and gives an appearance of not much more gloss than the hose itself.
