I'm working up a quote for a customer who wants a B1 motor, 555 to 572 C.I. range and he wants it to make as much power as he can at or under 7500 RPM N/A. I've never used a vacume pump on any motor yet but I want to on this motor, which pump do you use and which ones, Moroso, Star and any others, are the best to use in this deal All comments and help appreciated

Star makes the best stuff. Having said that we have had really good luck with Moroso stuff.

Star, Moroso, and GZ are all good. I have an Aerospace pump and do not care for it. We have a Moroso pump on the Camaro and it works good. Star is kinda expensive. Have heard good things about the GZ pumps...will be putting one on my hemi when my Aerospace pump craps out again.

If he really wants max performance ask him if he would like to use a dry sump and have the pump designed to pull the vacuum.

Do some research and you'll find that the GZ Motorsports stuff is very nice for about the same $ as Moroso. http://www.gzmotorsports.com/Doug

I never liked the Aerospace after I put it on... of all the units out there Aerospace is dead last.. I flowed air pumps at work that were better.. by a good bit

Running a 528 wedge, I tried a GPZ years ago, couldn't pull enough to show 3 inch vacuum. Went to a Moroso three vane, got max 10 inch running 50 percent engine speed. I suspect the four vane enhanced Moroso would be ideal, as you can regulate it down and run it fairly slow to get the same results, improving pump life.

The year was 2003, and the pump was a converted Pinto smog pump. I believe they were GZ then? I called them three times and they never responded. So they have one dissatisfied customer. Glad your pump works. They may have totally changed their product since, but you know how it is. Burn me once,,,,,,,,,,,

You might want to be more interested in what it is pulling at the 1/8 or 1/4 mile which ever you run in other words wide open throttle that counts. That is not a smart remark just saying to much vacuum can do more damage than good on a wet sump engine. I don't know how to spell the fancy word for it,but when you have to much vacuum it dead locks your oil pump.
I haven't run over 12", yet. It has and adjuster to allow it to draw outside air to reduce vacuum. I have it open nearly all the way. Check out their website and compare CFM to other brands. Doug
