57 dodge school bus with this system. A woman has it & there's a brake issue. I believe she said "hydrovac". What is this system & how does it operate. There are fringe benefits at stake . Thank you for your time (& help).

Well maybe you can. Are you up for a road trip? You may end up taking a wrong turn
Ha! i'm sure between the 2 of us we could make a complete mess of a brake system neither of us ever heard of! it'll be a Fred Flintstone bus!

If it looks like the link provided, "Hydrovac" is indeed what it is. They are simple, really. Think of it as a power brake unit. The unit has a brake line going IN from the original master, which activates the unit in place of a push rod. The vacuum boosts it, and feeds boosted pressure out
These were used and added to many older trucks, even pickups
This allows the smaller foot operated master cylinder to operate the large capacity master with reasonable foot pressure.Basically like a hydraulic clutch works, minus the vacuum assist! On the smaller trucks I think it may have been done for space issues too as the vac booster is remotely mounted on the frame and out of the engine compartment. My '69 L600 is like this, but I don't like the single pot master supplying the booster!
