I recently bought a used 1999 Ram 1500 that has what appears to be the facotry towing package. It has the transmission cooler, Class IV hitch and the sideways mounted 7 pin connector that is welded. However I can not find the connector for the trailer brake controller under the dash. There is a white female connector mounted to the drivers side of the wiring harness, but it is much to small for the male connector to trailer brake controller. Local Dodge "parts experts" are all younger than me and can't find info on a 15 y/o truck. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks for help.

With factory towing package there should be a blue connector under the dash with nothing plugged into it. They make pigtails you can plug into it and wire into your brake controller. Do a google search for '99 Dodge trailer brake wire' and an etrailer video comes up and shows what I'm talking about.

There was a pigtail / connector in the glove box, four loose wires on one end for connecting to the controller and a matching plug on the other for attaching to your wiring harness. You might check eBay or Amazon for a new one.

On my '96 the connector (blue if I recall) was taped up near the drivers side kick panel. Wasn't easily seen at first.

That's where it was on our 05 hemi durango and the pigtail was in the glove compartment.

99 Ram.... 05 Durango.... Love ya man!!, but those rigs are so different you might as well said toyota tacoma!

guy on the 96 is a close 2nd.... lots of changes. Unfortunately it clouds my mind so i might not be of any help either as I can't remember when they started the "blue" connector deal... "IF" your truck does have it, it will be attached to the top of the bulkhead connector under the dash on the drivers side, just to the right of the E brake pedal...in between the ebrake and brake pedal.... Hope this helps in some way

I have a couple of the pigtail plugins that go to the brake controller if you are interested.
