Last week I noticed a nice set of wires on Spencer Massey's Don Schumacher owned Top Fuel Hemi. When I ask about them Spencer proudly took me into his pit and showed me the FIRECORES!!!!

I guess I should get a shot of Beckman or Antron's car. Or maybe Matt Smith or Cruz. The point of the post was to show the Firecores work on street cars, to Carey Bales 4 banger turbo to a Top Fuel Hemi.

Ohms per foot is a meaningless number. It is measured by a small DC voltage when you use an ohmmeter.
Ohms per foot is used by plug wire manufacturers to try to get you to believe that their wire is better than someone else's.

The power for the spark event is more like AC and it flows over the surface of the core, kind of a cylinder flow.

It would take pretty specialized equipment to measure the power flow in a real spark situation.

Year ago, Circle Track magazine did a plug wire test and the results for new carbon conductor wires (the stock ones most of us consider crap) were indistinguishable from any of the other wires. I seem to remember that all the hp numbers were within the testing error, including solid conductor wires.

Wires add value when they:
1. Last a long time
2. Withstand reasonable handling and operating abuse
3. Control RFI so your other electronics aren't affected.

I don't think that the ohms per foot relate to any of the new Hi Po resitor type wires that have a stainless wire wound around the outside of the inner cores I fought a set of Moroso that ohmed well, but ran like crap on the motor I had used a different set of wires on the motor when I dynoed it and switch to the Moroso wires that I had used on the street car before, no worky so good on the new motor with the MSD 7AL2 box

Good points and they are why the fuel teems use them with Hundreds of runs on a set of wire with 44Mag with no problems on top dragsters and I believe over 100 runs on a top fuel car using Firecore50.Schumacher tested the wire in his own facility as has been seen on youtube including in a pressure chamber.

The last time i went to a NHRA race was in 11, and all the DSR cars from top fuel to funny cars had fire cores on them...

Well that may be true but fuel teams can use MSD wires for FREE while they pay hundreds for a set of Firecore50 wires.
Now I will admit Rick is a pretty good salesman but if his wires weren't head and shoulders above the rest they wouldn't be on the car

Not just because of this thread( but because of thread after thread getting posted shamelessly in one fashion or another " plugging" these wires.... I wish reference to products members sell would stay in the new products section after a thread or two touting them.
These wires become threads on here started by Rick( who I have noting against at all), seemingly all the time..but geez, enough is enough all ready after a couple of years of droning on and on about them.

I honestly could give 2 S#$TS what he thinks of me, and Im sure he cares less what I think, but he is darn lucky to have a ride after the crap he pulled. At his age he should have more respect for the guys he is competing with as they are old enough to have changed his poopooed diapers.

didn't know that. learning something from this site is one reason i'm on here everyday. the ohms/ft I was taught in tech school back in 82. out with the old and in with the new. anyway, where's the best place to buy a set?

Think he was alluding to Spenser Massey.

Me too, now we have no way to test them. I think I'm going with Moroso Ultra 40s this time.
