I know it is not correct...but if you went with a normal style 2 piece aluminum wheel construction...using aluminum outers, you would be able to get the price down I would say.
There are so many aftermarket wheels available.. my thoughts are if I'm going to all this trouble, I'd like them more authentic looking, steel with trim rings. I didn't really care for the chrome repops. I'll take any referrals for a local casting company if you have.

IMHO if your going to repro them, do it correctly, you know the market will be VERY small for them, and an "Anal" market crowd at that, in regards to the correctness factor, otherwise they will shun it as an inadequate repro
Specialty Wheels had a steel insert hidden inside the casting where the lug pattern was, to prevent the wheel from exhibiting any cracking around the lug/hub area when torqued down, something you may want to consider when casting your centers

I agree with Mike on this, remember I walked away from them when Specialty first came out with them exactly for that reason. Also just a heads up, there was a heavy bead of silicone spread in the wheels where the cast center was welded to the steel rings due to leaking. Ron

That silicone bead is not uncommon, I see it with lots of aftermarket wheels

As I said in your other thread I have a buddy that wants a set. He doesn't really use the internet or computers for that matter.
The car he's wanting them for is real J code, Q5 Turquoise, Hemi 4 speed 69 Coronet R/T convertible.
I can pm you his contact info if you think this is going to happen.
Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

No problem, just was thinking aloud with the change in design idea.

Please do. The point of this thread is to see who's interested and under what conditions. IE; If 15x7's with commonly available trim rings are acceptable or only if the wheels are 15x6 as original etc. Thanks

No interest here unless they were small bolt pattern.
Since all the centers get machined for bolt pattern anyway I don't see that as a problem. You would have to be ok with 15's and not 14's of course

As a former aluminum foundry owner I can tell you these guys could make the tooling and castings for you: http://www.andersonglobal.com/However, unless you have LOTS of buyers I doubt that it would be financially feasible.

And Rick, just about anytime an item that is no longer available is mentioned as a possibility you know as well as I do in most cases everyone will say I'm in but in the end most are out.
