pro-streeter OP member P Joined: Feb 2014 Posts: 181 Spokane Washington	I am about to purchase a new oil pump for my 1969 Road Runner 383 auto with AC. The car is stock so I am not looking for a higher performance pump, unless it is recommended. As I understand the HP pumps are thicker, does that cause any problems? Thanks for any help

I would take your feeler gauges & check the several clearances (easy to do/assembly line mistakes do happen). I'd use a normal wt of oil & see what you end up with for psi & 8lbs per 1K RPM is fine for a DD & even a low # at idle is OK IF it jumps up immediately when you get on it live every 24 hour block of time like it's your last day on earth

But if, due to loose clearances, the pressure drops off with temperature, a HV pump is called for. Luckily, on a BB it's changeable in situ. The INTERNET, the MISinformation superhighway
