Hey gang.
Getting ready to install a MSD 6A system on my Daytona. With eventually have one of my Prestolite dual-points converted to electronic and want the performance of MSD. I will hide the box and such so there's minimal visual impact. I was curous on how people who have this system wire compliment there factory tach or is it better to get the new-style circuit board for the rear of the OEM tach? I know there's a MSD tach adaptor.. Anyone with luck hooking that up?
I will hide the MSD and adaptor boxes as well as minimizing the visual impact of the MSD system in the engine compartment.

Troy, do you know that you can just trigger the MSD with your points?

Would the points hold up to the I increased voltage?

Actually the points become just a trigger and carry no load...So they last much longer...But IMO why keep the points and have another area to deal with when the electronic conversion takes that out of the equasion.... I have the tach adapter on one vehicle and it works fine you'll need to hide it with the MSD...Biggest problem I have is the old tachs don't move as fast as a new one...If you've got a fast revving engine it'll pass the tach during the sweep if you blip the throttle in neutral...  Engine is coming back down while the tach is still on the way up/hovering...

That's what I was thinking. I have an extra factory tach for the Daytona that needs to be refaced. So, they made MSD friendly board I can change out into the tach and thus not have to wire in an adaptor? If so, where does one get these boards? Charger Specialties?

i have a repo tic-toc-tac from charger specialties. can't recommend them enough.

Thanks Lee... I've done much business with Redline with their amp-2-volt conversion service. I'll explore the tach's..
I have ordered the 6425 box along with the 8222 black coil and 8920 tach adaptor. I spoke to the tech support about various scenarios of distributors. Being that the points are no more than a trigger and really don't put much strain on the contacts, I may use my Prestolite dual-point first using the white wire from the MSD box... This will give me the OEM look I'm wanting......
