What was the original material of the shaker bubble?
It was a material commonly used in the RIM and compression molding process. A multi component mixture of resins, plasticizers, and filler solids used to add structure (glass fibers, talc, etc. most of which are engineered to be highly resistant to fire and heat). The resins were a catalyzed mix that were blended and molded under heat and pressure. The process required very expensive tooling and machines to run them in, not practical to reproduce in our world, the minimum numbers are far too small to make the venture economical. This is why todays reproductions are all fiberglass, no real tooling costs, low cost materials, made one at a time with no large runs required.

I am looking to convert my car to a Shaker that is mostly strip but will be driven on the street also. I am not looking for 100% accuracy just want the look as I will be running a high rise single manifold with a Dominator so I will be modifying & making a drop base anyway. Who's would be the best looking for the least expensive $ amount???

In that case, light weight is your friend for a strip car, fiberglass shaker hood, lift off or bolt on, with a fiberglass scoop attached to the underside of the hood, still functional as far as fresh air, but without the hassle of baseplates, cables, aircleaners, seals, doors, etc, this way you could run any aircleaner/carb set under the scoop you desired, several vendors offer this set up

I have been looking at those also. Also thought about just running the carb & air cleaner thru the shaker hole in the hood. Anyone else try this? Will it still work with the offset engine placement & the hole being centered???

OK, so i'm following.....my friend is doing a RARE '70 'cuda for a customer. The owner wants to "add" the shaker hood set up. He has the AMD hood and trim ring. Told me he's looking for all the rest for 4bbl setup. HELP>>>>>>>>please
I'm the CARETAKER of Weinstats '69 440 'cuda registry and have 104 of the 360 cars to date. 84 fastbacks/20 coupes. Always looking for new(REAL M-code) '69 440 'cudas to add to the registry so drop me a note if any are found or known. This isn't a publicly released registry. Thanks, Dave
