Schumacher here as well. my engine doesn't sit level, and i haven't looked into it as it doesn't cause any problems, but overall they are well engineered, and i would recommend them.

I ran into the same problem with my Schumacher Hemi conversion mounts. You can adjust that by loosing the large bolt that bolts the block mount and k-frame mount and position the engine where you want and tighten those bolts back up but be sure you really torque them down so they don't move.

One thing I don't really care for on the Schumacher Hemi mounts is the fact the engine appears to be roughly 1/2"(?) higher then stock.

I am running an M1 single 4bbl intake with a glass repo 1970-1971 air grabber air cleaner and with a stock 1970 Challenger R/T hood it was touching so I had to take if I remember correctly about an 1-1/2" off the air cleaner base plate to get enough clearance for me to be comfortable.

I thought I read on here a few years ago that a couple of guys opened up the engine bracket holes and dropped the engine down to factory specs.

I bought some Hemi head bolts from Arruzza when I was building my engine and I didn't care for the way he handled that transaction so that is one of the reasons I went with the Schumacher kit.

Who is Al Debevec please? Can I ask a question, if you put a solid left mount in, and leave the rubber in the right side, will much of the vibration still get through?

Al is the Man, he takes V-8 Kmembers and converts them to hemi, they use the original mounts and fit every time. Tim

Does Mega get theirs from Al?

Mega copied Al's design. Al hand makes each set of mounts that are welded to the K-member with a bandsaw and an Ironworker. I am fully pleased with mine. I am running a racepumps 2000 mechanical pump and he custom built the block mount to fit around the pump. Nice work and was only 50.00 extra. Here is the drivers side block mount.

I don't see it. a friend put a level on it and told me, but to me it looks level. unless it's causing problems, good enough!

That makes no sense.
Whether an engine is "level" or not is it's relationship to the chassis.

OK, so does Al make the complete converted k-member or the motor mount adaptors for a 426 Hemi on a standard V8 k-member? Or, both?

I am weighting the possibility of foregoing adaptor brackets and just get a complete k-member. But, the cost of a complete k-member and OEM hemi motor mount brackets is about the same as a set of brand new TTI ceramic headers that I need to get regardless......

Thanks for the input all........

Cheers,
Troy

I would just run the Schumacher mounts and cut a hole in the hood for a scoop.

Other than obvious sarcasm and him not installing the Hemi with factory style parts, why would he have to cut a hole in the hood?

Mine clears the hood just fine (but it is a 67).
The hood pad just barely touches the top of the chrome dome air cleaner with the hood closed.
If I took the hood pad off it wouldn't even do that.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol

I won't purchase anything from Arruzza anymore. He was not set up to take a credit card, so I had to wait for my check to arrive by mail and then clear the his bank. (Pain in the butt!) The aluminum Hemi rocker arm stands were all covered with deep dents and dings like they have been bouncing around his shop for years! He got mad at me when I asked to return them and he charged me a 15% restocking fee even though it was his fault. Geesh! How hard was it for him to turn around and set them on his shelf? I expected nice new parts without dents and dings for the price that I paid. Despite all of his accomplishments, I don't respect him or trust him now!

He hot tanked my kmember, cut off the old v8 mounts and welded on new ones. He included everything i needed down to the studs that go into the block and the rubbers. Call and talk to him. Very laid back guy and has a nice small shop in rural Wisconsin. Just watch out of the Menemite horse drawn carriages on the roads if you go visit him. TIm

If you plan on using the flat Charger hood, and the Schmacher mounts raise the engine at all, you will not have room for an air cleaner. I put a 528 Hemi in my 68 Charger will stock mounts and k member and there's not enough room for an air cleaner on a carb, but there is on a throttle body, good thing I'm running EFI.

Take care,
Rick

Which intake manifold were you using?

Then how did the factory do it? They had stock mounts.... and an aircleaner that fit.

Recently, I visited a shop that specializes in repairing and modifying vintage Mopar Musclecars. A 1969 Hemi-fied Charger R/T was up on the rack. There were numerous issues with the car, worst of which were the Schumacher engine mounts, which improperly mounted the engine, and definitely caused issues all the way through the car. The very fact that one mount is essentially solid, and the other semi-isolated by rubber had me pondering the design. The quick fix? A real Hemi K-frame, and factory mounts. Also a set of TTI headers dramatically improved everything!

Well the car I worked on had an Arruza 528, with stage five heads. It had the stage five valve covers so that the rockers would not contact the covers. The valve cover hit the shock tower on the pass side so we had to raise the mount up about 1/4" with a plate and it all worked. He had hooker header supplied bu Arruza. It seemed to work fine. It was a 68 Charger.

I have the stageV rockers under stock repop valve covers and running the stageV intake. Once I get an aircleaner base that fits my holley carbs I will be able to check it for clearance but measuring seems to say I should have about 1/2" clearance when it done. Tim
