Does anyone know how much the TRW L2355F six pak pistons weigh? I can't seem to find a weight for them or the 440 source pistons (part# 4000). .030 over 440 Ross pistons appear to be 647-658 grams depending on what you select.

I am just curious how much of a weight difference there would be between the Ross and the TRWs...and how the 440 source pistons would compare.

Plus 250 grams for the pin if I remember, you are WAY better off with something a bit more up to date and a LOT lighter.

So basically skip the grams & say each Ross piston weighs a half pound less than the TRW piston..

Which one will rev quicker? Which one will live longer? Which one is easier on the rod bolts...

Sealed Power makes a light weight "LW2355F" piston, but it still weighs 773 grams, but only costs $409.39 /set and uses the 1/16" ring pack.

Hmm...thinking about putting in 440 source h-beam rods and pistons when I freshen up the 440 later this year. Right now i have stock rods and the TRW L2355F pistons.

Pins go 225 to 230.

If you already have the TRWs use them. But for what they cost, the quality, and the weight, there are just a lot of better options out there IMO.

I know it is not exact the same piston, but I got the domed version inside (2295, .30 over) and
the pin should be the same. It weights 190,4g (average weight of all 8) and it was measured with a 3000$ lab scale.
The piston was 807g (in average) the snap ring was 5,6g (in average).

The trw works well for a budget application, if you already have the piston or get them for very cheap. Yes a lighter piston is a much better option.
However the 440 bottom end is very robust and many many people have used the trw for years with great luck.
The rest of the combo you plan to build would be helpful.

Unfortunately, they are not even close to the pistons they once were.

Are they built in India now like many Sealed Power pistons?

The 440Source pistons are Icon, go to their website to find weights.

I had to call Spped Pro, TRW, AKA Federal Mogul on a replacement piston that came form India with the dry film coating on it, it was lighter than the originals in the motor The Rep. said all of the machines had been moved to India and alll of the thier pistons where now being made in India It looked like a cast piston on the insides NOT GOOD

The Domed TRW's were supplied with a thinner wall pin to keep the total weight close to the stock piston weight.
