Not real sure on the cubic inch but PM B1max as he has a nice running 9 second dart with B1Bs heads. This car is also using B1Bs heads. There are plenty of guys making the switch and running the same or a hair better. The old wives tell keeps lots of guys from making the switch from iron to aluminum even in bracket type cars were it isn't really an issue. My buddy 68 charger was getting about 2 years out of a stock block and finally stepped up to an Indy block. Tom Hemphile has always built Tim's engines and dyno'd everyone. The engine made 4 less horsepower after the change-over and consistently runs 8.50's-8.80's depending on the weather. Still the same cam, B1BS heads, weiand tunnel-ram, and 750 holley's that he's used for the last 20 plus years. No vacuum pump or anything fancy on his car. Tim's Toy is the name of the car and I'm sure some of you guys have seen it around. No more cracked blocks, runs the same or better, sounds like a win win to me. If anything the Keith Black block is even better.

I have heavily ported B-1 Originals and run an alumium Keith Black block. I am at 557cu.in. but they will support at least 75 more cu.in. poppaj

I am sure there is a formula for figuring the ci limit for the head cfm.
I would bet you are right, with the power going up fast as the cubes increase, but power going down slow as the best point is passed. It is tough to screw up an under headed package, real easy to screw up an over headed package.
I agree and head port velocity/speed would increase to the choke point.I think on wallaceracing there is a calc on ci port speed.

With 3.54 gears many cubes as you can get. My 512 seems to like 6500.

With ANY cylinder head the cubic inch limit (point of diminishing returns) is gonna be directly proportional to how many RPM you want to turn. You could put bone stock 516 heads on a 572 CID motor if you are happy with 4000 RPM. As for the B1BS it is a big head and 3.54 is a pretty high gear and if you run a tall tire it needs even more TQ so run the cubes as big as you can, a 572 will not be too much
