The stock non-windage tray oil pan bolts look to be too short for use with a tray. Do folks go to longer bolts when adding a tray?

Not sure if it needs to be stock looking, but consider studs if you can. Alignment of tray and gasket is easier, and I think the clamping force of a nut is better too.

Ditto on studs, they are .18 a piece at a local industrial fastener supply house. Only bad thing about them is that you can't slide the pan back to clear the K member on a SB once you get the nuts off.

I've never taken the time to compare pan bolts from an HP engine with the tray to a standard engine without. But I have always had to use longer bolts retrofitting a tray on a standard motor. The stockers just don't seem to make it.
