Has anyone ever heard not to run over a certain lift cam because of the geometry of the w2's pushrods?

I think I heard something like don't run anymore then a 575 lift because I notice on alot w2 small blocks the ones that run real good have a smaller cam like in the mid 500 range.

Very nice my friend has a pro dominator tunnel ram that I would like to buy off him. Also has a strip domiantor single plane that I have for sure getting off him. We got a 340 stock bore and stock stroke that we are trying to get run and you just get all kinds of different answers. It has w2 econo heads with 2.08 in valves and 1.60 ex. 13:1 trw pistons with a 606 lift flat tappet cam thats getting replaced because it's unknown to us because it was in the motor when we got it. Has a 8 bolt moldex crank and a M-1 intake with a 750 cfm proform carb and 1 5/8 headers. Trying to get it to run 10's with out going to a full roller because don't have the money. Any suggestions? All car is 2800 lbs with driver and has a 904 tranny with trans brake. 10" 4000 stall converter and we are putting in 4.56 gears. Best so far has been 7.56 in 1/8 with 1.65 60 ft

back when I still had my w2 motor (rip) , I used a mechanical roller with .760/.738 theoretical lift, thanks to the geometry the actual numbers where much less...

The biggest problem is that to gain runner volume you have to have wide runners and lot of offset on the intake rockers, then you waste a lot of lift in the sideways motion of the pushrod...

mine had 1" offset which made it extreme, still managed to go 9.39

yes, how much lift do you think you lose on a 720 intake lift w2 motor becaues of the gemotry?

Hard to guess, depends on offset
we did measure lift but I cant remember the exact numbers but it was more than I expected , I remember we had to measure 2 or 3 times just because it didn t make sense at first

we put one dial indicator on the lifter and another on the valve ,that was the moment I understood why they made 48* blocks

50 shot of spray with no tuning did 10.76 @ 128 mph. 1.65 60'. 3800 lbs race weight.

This was the first time I sprayed. Everything stayed together. I will make my way to 150 shot next summer.

Sell the 10" convertor and put a 8" unit with around 5000-5500 of stall speed. That alone will liven your combination up.

What make of cam?

I'm building a 450+ small block. Using my w2's and tunnel ram. 13.1 comp and wondering about what cam to use.
