Can you max wedge port B1BS heads? How much differance would it make to ones that have already been cnc standard ported and maybe adding 2.25 valves? Now has 2.200 valves.
Thanks

I tried to, broke through at the push rod pinch. you could let it neck down around that part. I ended up just going to max wedge height. This was on ET Performance's cnc standard port window heads.

I had a set of B1BS with as much work as one could do to them. The cost of making them any better is not worth it in my opinion. I would just buy set of cnc 440-1s with 2.25 valves and Jessel Rockers..Or step up to Original B-1s with T&Ds

My B1BS heads have Max Wedge port and make real good power with a 2.20" valve. It is a 498CID and made right at 900HP on Alky.

I haven't hear of to many 440-1 heads doing that.

I do have a set of T&D paired shaft rockers on it.

Indy tunnel ram

I like the B1BS heads

Jeff at MCH CNC ported a set of B1-BS I had to M.W. size They flowed 350 CFM at 700 on a Super Flow 600 bench at 28 inches, I put them on a 3.91 stroke 471 C.I. 440 bracket motor for a good customer in SO CA several years ago. The motor made 720 HP at 7000 RPM (it was still climbing but the customer wanted to stop the tests at 7000 RPM )on a cheap sheet metal fabricated tunnel ram and two Holley 750 D.P., KB forged piston with around 12.8 to 1 comp. ratio. Nothing exotic

Thanks for the info. Ours flow 355 at .700. They're on a 511 S/G Roadster. Would like to pick up a few mph.

Your getting 355 with a standard port window?

I think Dwayne said they were near Max Wedge:
.500-296.4/228.9
.600-326.0/244.4
.650-331.4/249.8
.700-306.3/254.5

Almost identical to the numbers on the BS heads Dwayne did for me.

I talked to someone at www.etheads.com because they say they can cnc the B1-b/s to 355 cfm @ 0.700".
They told me that was with max wedge port size.
I already have the Manely severe duty 2.25" intakes and exhaust valves (the larger intake didn't help flow on the Stage1 (basic port cleanup) Koffels ported heads I have.

If I remember correct, my heads had epoxy in cylinder 1,2 and 7,8, the corner cylinders. It was the push rod pinch.
My 540 made 811hp, but Kasper made 842hp with less cubes( under 500) mostly for a custom grind cam from Scott B.

I still have valves and seats, necessary for 2.25 valves change, if anyone wants a good deal. Brand new parts, heads still have 2.20 valves.
