You sir, need to do that for a living...
It wasn't that hard took a couple hours. Got sheet of. 040 aluminum and some moroso foam. The hold down is a handle off of the side of an aluminum harbor freight floor jack. Found out that the foam cuts awesome with the bandsaw.

How much room do you have from the top of your inlet on the carb to the hood scoop and are you running a filter
have about 3 1/2 inches. Gonna try without a filter see how it does. I'll know later today.

I think you might have issues with the pressure differential due to where the vents are located under the pan... you might need to run a hose up into the pan area to the vents(loop of hose attached to both vents with a notch cut in the top)

Does that matter with an edelbrock Carb?
If the carb has a vent(and I'm sure it does) then yes it can make a difference... but thats dependent on the differential between the top and bottom of the pan

You had some nice cool air today too. Not to take anything away from the pan, I am sure that had something to do with it. Awesome.
Before with the bad hot summer air it would run upper 7.50's The previous best was with good air
