It wasn't that hard took a couple hours.
Got sheet of. 040 aluminum and some moroso foam.
The hold down is a handle off of the side of an aluminum harbor freight floor jack.
Found out that the foam cuts awesome with the bandsaw.

How much room do you have from the top of your inlet
on the carb to the hood scoop and are you running a filter

have about 3 1/2 inches.
Gonna try without a filter see how it does.
I'll know later today.

Re: Made an Air Pan today - 09/09/12 02:49 PM

I think you might have issues with the pressure differential
due to where the vents are located under the pan...
you might need to run a hose up into the pan area to
the vents(loop of hose attached to both vents with
a notch cut in the top)

Re: Made an Air Pan today - 09/09/12 02:51 PM

Does that matter with an edelbrock Carb?

If the carb has a vent(and I'm sure it does) then yes
it can make a difference... but thats dependent on
the differential between the top and bottom of the pan

You had some nice cool air today too. Not to take anything away from the pan, I am sure that had something to do with it. Awesome.

Thanks

The bell piece is an air cleaner base and the board part is 18 gauge aluminum got from a buddy that races dirt super late models.

Re: Made an Air Pan today - 09/10/12 03:19 AM

nice looking pan and result.
my pan makes 20 extra RWHP on the dyno
and equivilant on the track.
most cars i have fitted them to noticebly gain.worked on both my single and dual quad manifolds
never have been too sure on running an aluminium /metal tray as i always thought you may still see too much heat transfer especially as you roll up through the lanes and tower
