So I do have a set of LBP axles from a 73-76 7-1/4 rear..The next question is,will they fit in the SBP axled housing I have in my 71 Dart? From the bearing specs from NAPA,it does not seem so..The OD and ID of the bearings are different..
also realize you would have to change the brakes , the axle offset of the 2 are more than likely different .
I think you answered your own question , if the ID is different, that is the part the axle rides on , then the axle won't fit the bearing in your rear properly . If the OD is different then the bearing that fits the new axle will not fit the housing .

Thanks everyone for all the input..I was thinking I would cut the LBP axles .100" and use the SBP bearings..I would also switch the retaining plates due to the 5 vs 4 hole issue..The only thing that might be a problem is the brake back spacing as JohnRR stated..Just trying to avoid spending approx $1000 to set up an 8-3/4 with LBP axles right now..
You should be able to do an A body rear for a lot less than that even piecing one together.

Little bit off topic, but I heard that the guys who build lawn tractor pull tractors will actually pay real money for those 7 1/4 diffs.
