Hi, I recently purchased a 67 Cuda with a 318 in it. I know it is a 318 as being under the car it was visible. As far as the owner knew the engine had a choppy cam and 360 heads. Well they werent very mechanically inclined and inturn the intake needs to be changed. It currently has a Edelbrock LD4B intake on it now. I want to replace it with a new Edelbrock but the two choices I see are a #2176 and #7176. The obvious is the #2176 as it works with all small blocks but is the less powerful. Plus it requires the newer style stat housing. But the #7176 is the more HP intake plus it usees my same stat housing. Can someone more knowledgable please tell me if there is a way by looking at casting #'s for me to confirm what the previous owner told me that they are 360 heads so I can buy the better #7176 intake? I just dont want to buy the #7176 and not be able to use it:(. Thank you ALL Robert moparman111@msn.com

measure the intake port. if they are 7/8 x 1 7/8 they are 318s and I bet they are. if they are 1 x 2 they are 360 heads. if they do turn out to be 318s that LD4B intake is hard to beat.
I am truckless..

Thanks shorty. The LD4B is whats on it now. But since the previous owner(s) stripped out both stat housing bolt holes and it seems to have a warped stat housing surface. Even if you tighten it down all the way it still leaks at the very back towards the carb:(.

Easy to put 2 heli-coils in and sand/file the mounting surface flat. Probably a warped thermostat housing, not a warped mounting surface though.

With an aluminum manifold, the bolt holes could be welded up and redrilled/tapped. You can check the mating surface by lightly running a fine file across it and see if there are high/low spots. If there are, file the surface flat. Could it be leaking around the poorly installed heli-coils and running toward the back?
I liked the LD340 I had... I'd spend the $$$ fixing that one over purchasing a different manifold unless you're looking for something that makes more power, like an air gap.

I've have one of these intakes on a 318 I have it it really works well, wakes that old 318 up. Great throttle response and power!! Also have a set of headers on the engine. Otherwise stock.
