Who runs one? What brand is it? How does it fit? What's it on (engine, headers and chassis)?
I'm in the market, any advice is appreciated to help me from wasting money on a bad one.

diapers are a pita. do what ever it takes and build some form of belly pan that removes quickly. it will cost more, but in the long run you'll be happier.
With Stock suspension and in chassis headers that's going to be a chore. If anyone has pictures of one I'd love to see it. I have access to a metal brake, welder etc if it can be done.
1:8 LOWER ENGINE CONTAINMENT DEVICE "In classes where specified, must utilize an NHRA-accepted lower engine oil-retention device. SFI Spec 7.1 or 7.2 Lower Engine Containment Device permitted. A properly fitting lower engine ballistic/restraint device mandatory. The NHRA Technical staff can accept or reject any device. Any device that fails to perform as required must be replaced or repaired to the satisfaction of the Technical staff prior to any furthur runs. When used, an SFI Spec 7.1 or 7.2 Lower Engine Containment Device must cover the sides of the block and pan up to within one inch of the head mating surface and extend to within 1 1/2 inches of the front and rear of the cylinder case area. SFI Spec 7.1 devices must be updated/recertified by the original manufacturer at one-year intervals. In classes where specified, a belly pan may be used in lieu of a device attached to the engine. The belly pan must extend from framerail to framerail and extend forward of the harmonic balancer and to the rear of the engine block and must incorporate a minimum 2-inch-high lip on all sides unless specified in Class Requirements. Minimum number of slots or holes in the walls to clear frame, steering, or lines permitted. A nonflammable, oilabsorbent liner mandatory inside of retention device."

Dustin, DRE made mine: 68 Dart SB w/motor plates & Milodon SS Oil Pan (the type with the centerlink going thru it). It was the first fabication of that type for DRE so it cost a bit more plus they added lots of heat cloth due to very close header clearance. I had to fabricate my own solution for the centerlink cut-outs. It took alot of time but the results are very good and the diaper fits like a glove. Total Cost around $600.00 Small price to pay for the extra level of safety in my opinion. Also, Dennis at DRE could not have been more helpful & accomodating.

I went with the DRE. More expensive, but we had a ton of mods; dragster pan, sight glass, drag link tube, external oil lines; kickout, etc. I had to send the pan to Dennis, but the fit is good. Had one burn-through from the headers and he fixed it for free and added more Kevlar patches. It was sagging a little more than I liked due to the length, so I added a layer of Masonite under the absorbent pad. The other thing I did was add a stud to the header flange between #6 & #8, and #5 & #7 so the strap pulls straight up and not over the rear spark plugs.
