MR_P_BODY Master Joined: Jun 2003 Posts: 52,972 Romeo MI	New engines dont have them... they were used back in the day to help cover up IFFY seals... plus run a 100K miles... I havent used one in years with the better quality seals now days

If it's main purpose is to prevent leaks from lousy seals, slinger is a misleading name because that makes it sound like its job is to distribute oil. If it was called a blockade, and many people dont use it but aren't leaking oil out the front, it would be more obvious that it's not needed

@#$%&*! New user name, Same old jerk! @ Joined: May 2008 Posts: 1,131 Thigh-Gap Junction	Its job was to sling oil OFF the crank snout. Using a slinger with a Neoprene seal can lead to a grooved damper hub. You want some oil on one side of the seal to lube it.
