More pinion shims to move it back into the teeth, then adjust lash and contact pattern?

looks like inadequate pinion depth, and too much lash.
for what is the good life if not doing things thoughtfully?

Inadequate pinion depth meaning it's too deep or not deep enough? From the drive side, my uneducated opinion is that I can't go too much deeper because it'll be in the root of the ring gear tooth? Could you explain why you think that?

Opened up the backlash to .012" Drive side looks better, but coast side looks the same.
From what I understand, if there is a pinion depth problem, shouldn't the patterns be opposite of eachother?
For example, if the drive side is down at the toe and falling into the heel, wouldn't the coast side show that it would be falling away towards the tip?
In this case, both patterns are falling into the root?

See if this dont help some. http://www.drivetrain.com/parts_catalog/...structions.htmlI would take some shim out as to move the pinion towards the front of the car. It should set the drive side deeper and then you will have to set backlash from there to see where the cost pattern comes out. Good luck , Ron

Used gears usually set up better between .008"-.010" backlash. Also for used gears concentrate on the coast side. Trying to chase it from the drive side can become extremely frustrating-just went through this with my Dana. http://www.ringpinion.com/Content/HowTo/...nstructions.pdf
