I found an old carter carb, and i'm wondering if it is dated correctly for my Superbird.. It's a Carter carb. Carb # 4738S Build date 2259 part number 54. Is this properly coded for a 1970 Superbird 440 4bbl? B30 production date. Thanks

If it's the correct part number, I believe it would be considered an acceptable date code for your car since it precedes the SPD but it would also be considered a real early date
John, That's about two months earlier than the average, most birds are in the 280/290 range, guess it depends on how critical one wants to be as far as numbers. Most are stamped K9/L9,being October / November of 69.
