I plan to run an HEI module on my mopar electronic distributor. Came up with a creative place to put it.

It will look odd, since I plan to use the solidstate regulator to run the alternator, but the strange looks will be worth it.

Second pic. If you remove all the mechanical regulator stuff, one mounting hole and one locating hole line up. I ground the other locating tab and drilled one hole. Some dielectric grease, and if warranted an aluminum plate, and its out of sight.

(hopefully this is in the right forum this time)

Thats cool just make sure its grounded and has heat sink paste on the back. You could mount it under the distributor too if you have an aftermarket smooth billet style. Thats a good swap.

Right where the balast resistor goes. Since I wont be using it, just need to redo the harness a bit.

Yes, I meant heatsink compund, not dielectric. Thanks!

I know about the dist. bracket, nice piece.

What's the advantage of an HEI set-up vs the mopar elec. ignition or Pertronix?

a second voltage regulator?? not sure that looks right. why not gut a normal ecu and wire it to the pins and use the stock electronic style plug..

even this little bracket http://www.designed2drive.com/ would look a lot cleaner then a second regulator.

I've always used dielectric compound, What's that other stuff that I should be using? brand/Part #

Robert, normally the modules come with a little pack of compound, but, many people use this
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102858 and I have also used Arctic Silver compound from my pc building.

Di-electric is just silicone and does not have anything in it to assist in heat transfer as I under it.

Dielectric grease is for electrical connectors to keep them from oxidizing and keeping water out , it's not for transfering heat.

why don't you make what Don's at FBO is making with the "Brand new "Mopar" Ecu module"?. Find some old ECU, remove the inners and fit inside the HEI, module, using the stock 5 pins ECU plug
