How much, if any, side to side driveshaft angle at the transmission is normal or acceptable? Installed a modified K member on a 65 B body and it seems to me like the engine does not sit as straight as it should, trans tailshaft does not point directly at the real axle yoke. I know the engine is supposed to be offset side to side, don't think that is the problem. Unfortunately I never looked at the driveshaft angle before swapping out the original K member.

What u-joint angles does it have at the front and rear? Side view and top view?

1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's
1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

Have taken it back apart, going to relocate the K-member mounts to better suit my needs. Should be able to get it all straight that way.

The mopar performance chassis manual has alot of good info about the drivetrain angles and their relationships to each other...It's a good book to have when setting up a vehicle...

you may have a hard time straightening it up because the trans/driveshaft tunnel isnt straight either----while you have it inplace take a look at the clearances in relation to the tunnel----bob

far as I know, very little side to side or none?

I'm 55 now, no time to waste. Not a week goes by that I don't hear about someone passing on.Let's get out there, smoke some tires, have a beer with a good friend,do what you have always wanted to do.I am pretty sure no one will ever say on their deathbed "gee I'm glad my life was calm and boring"

Your way better off havig some angle, both up and down and side to side thatn having the driveshaft perfecftly aligned , The Ujoints need to change angles as they rotate to make the needle bearings inside roll on the Ujoint pins, if they do't they will brenell(SP) and die

the transmission cannot point directly at the rear end yoke because you will get an awful harmonic vibration and your needle bearings will die as stated before----all our old muscle cars have the front of engine offset to the right to allow for the steering gear---the radiator is even offset to be in the middle of the fan----the battery is on the left because there is room there----the trans/driveshaft tunnel angles from the right (front) to the left (rear)----bob
