How big of a pain is it to replace valve seals on cylinder heads without taking them off? It really isn't cost effective to do anything more to my current heads and money is gonna get a little tight so new ones are out of the question. I also will have the springs checked out and run the pooch as it is for next year...Thanks!! Ted

Piece of cake Ted, if your pulling the springs to check, the seals take 10 seconds to pop off and put new ones on...you'll be fine...

I bought the $50 Mancini tool and it works fine, you can't take all the springs off at once though, you'll have no way to keep the valves from dropping into the cylinder. I use a cheap compression gauge hose with the valve core removed to put compressed air in the cylinder. You can only do one cylinder at a time that way though.

Ted with this tool it is a piece of cake ! I bought this from Mancini when I built my 493 as I broke the cam in on the outer springs so I used this to put the inner springs back in on the car. It makes the job so easy as this is the best valve spring tool for doing them on the car I have ever used. I would gladly lend it to you but you may have a slight drive to pick it up. I like it because you bolt it on with the rocker shaft hold down bolts and then you screw the allen screw down until you are ready to remove the keepers. And you can use both hands to remove the keepers as you dont have the other hand holding and pushing a tool down. It works great. Ron

That tool is really the cats behind, I just didn't want to spend $200 on a tool that wouldn't be used that often but it is pretty neat.

I did not think I spent that much but I bought it with a bunch of other parts and do not know the real price I paid. But it was worth it to me as I will use it many more times. Ron

Think of it this way Ted... what does a set of head
gaskets cost you and if you dont have a off engine
spring compressor you would need to buy it too OR
take them to a shop which cost

There is always USPS flat rate boxes...It wouldn't cost much to ship it back and forth. Just sayin'.

Ted if you pay shipping (I would but I am broke right now) I will ship it to you. You can use it and take as long as you like. Then ship it back when done. I have no problem with that if you wanted to do it. Ron

Ted I have one of the old MP ones Mancini sold back in the day. Works fine for stock type shaft set ups. If you want I can send it to you just send me your mailing address.
