Mal......stick with the continental.

Brett Mcniff reckons they pick up .4 in every car they've put one in!

Converters are a case of you get what you pay for!

DITTO although not on your list, my 8" Continental 5000+ stall works great street/strip and never heats up the trans fluid when cruising here in the desert.

Dom I have the same converter, I have no problems on the street, I use a huge trans cooler with a electric fan to keep it cool.

Yes I live in Michigan, so there is still 1 light on

8" ATI love it, best converter I ever got. 4500 tight works and drives with no problem. step on the gas and hold on cause you will be in the back seat.

I will say that a Dominator or TCE convertor will be as good as any of the brands you have mentioned. Because the Australian dollar is so strong, I feel that many are overlooking quality products made in Australia. To boot, if there is an issue, there is no international freight and lost time to have it changed. My anyway

Sorry - guess I should have said I am thinking of going to a 727 thats why I'm asking - my Continental is in my current 904...No complaints.

I agree on the quality aspect Al...but they are also $300 MORE than the = US part.

Almost any company listed can give you a great converter. The folks that think the first converter they got was the best possible are never correct(as for the guys that have the same converter for 20 yrs and never need service, ask how many passes do they make and are they really doing anything above the norm). For the best converter you'll need at least 10 converters and plenty of street and track testing. My go to is PTC as they listen and having a long track record with me know what I like. Most companies can build a good converter, just gotta make sure they know the combo. Swapping to a 727 will slow you down over the 904,a great converter MAY even the deck.

I've got 5 different converters, Coan, Trans Specialties
and 3 Turbo Action... I had the best results with my
T/A... these are all for a 727 and I am putting a T/A
in my Rampage with a 518 trans... I am hoping it flashes
between 4500 and 4800... I do have another T/A conv
around somewhere and it flashed at 3500 but that was
in a screwed up engine with no torque so I might give
that a try behind the 416 with considerably more
torque so it would be a higher stall... the Coan
sucked so I bought a trans specialty conv and that
was a bit to loose for my engine at the time but it
might work well behind my W-9... currently I have
a T/A in the race car that stalls at 5600 and I am
hoping that the trans specialty stalls about 6100

I agree and I use the b&m trans cooler w/out a fan located just under my ft. lic. plate and it works great.

The few times I have drove my old 69 Barracuda on the street it had the Turbo Action 3800 in it and it drove very well. When I put the Demon back on the street, since it has the 3800 in it as a race converter,I will keep using it.
