Greetings

I’d like to hear about peoples experiences with the following brand converters – mainly, how close did they come to meeting the stall and flash expectations you had?

Were they OK on the street ie Did they run hot? Were they too loose?

The brands I am considering are Dynamic, TCI, A&A and PTC.

I'm running a Turbo Action 3800. I like it. Drives nice at cruise and flashes very well.

I love my PTC, great customer service too. It's perfect for my combo and has several thousand street miles on it.

I've had my dynamic 9.5" since 2005 - I have 3.23 gears and it runs like a normal converter till you step on it! Best move I made was going from the mopar 175k to that 9.5"

DITTO although not on your list, my 8" Continental 5000+ stall works great street/strip and never heats up the trans fluid when cruising here in the desert.

9.5 Dynamic converters in my 63 and my sons Dart and we love them. Both are street cars and I drive my 63 alot. Works great street driving and flashes nice at the track. I also used a 10" TA years ago and it worked good also. Ron

One of my friends uses a Turbo Action in his big block Road Runner with good results. Many years ago I used a TCI rated at 2800 stall in my 360 Duster. I was not impressed. It didn't work any better than a locally remanufactured stock 340 converter [ $40.00 ] and the snout had a groove worn in it in less than 10,000 miles. The reman never gave any trouble.

X4 on that one if your using a big block. My stroked hemi flashes to 4100rpm on that convertor.

My other build is a W2 and for that, I am interested in a 9.5 street/strip deal what did you guys pay for the 9.5 units and what do they flash to?

I have had two dynamic's a 10" which I hated and a 9 1/2" which was good. The 10" nothing but problems went back 3 times and gave up with that one. Got a A&A 9 1/2" and that came in a dynamic box but that one has 60' the best in my car. Have a 8" Ultimate in the car now works great ,but fighting traction problems with it.

Great feedback and thanks all.

My current 904 is a continental - I really like it but I didn't think they made them anymore...so I'll add them to the list.

TCI are off the list.
