Im thinking about ordering a new engine wiring harness for the 69 Dart. Does anyonw know if one from a 70-72 Dart/Duster/Demon would work? I was going to upgrade to the 70+ electronic voltage regulator,so im trying to see if I can use a harness that already has it.

if you order from year one they have 69 harnesses that are wired so ecectronic ign and a dual fld charging system is plug and play.

stay away from evans garbage. i used one a few years ago and it had bad crimps all over the place on it. there is a thread floating around this site where quite a few guys had the same issues with poor fitting and bad crimps.
go with the year one (M&H) harness. its a quality piece, and actually fits. plus its real close to the same price as the evans. like cogen said, you can ger a 69 harness that is set up for the newer style regulator and alt along with electronic ign. just installed a harness from year one in a friends 68 dart. dropped right in, very nice piece.

$185 from year one. the same harness is $110 from evans. spend the extra money and just be done with it.

HU201AM Reproduction engine and forward light harness modified for electronic ignition for 1969 Dart models with 318 or 340 engines and all V8 Valiant models.
eproduction harness requires the use of the 1970-and-later style alternator and electronic voltage regulator. To answer this question , NO you can't just buy the later harness and use it on your 69.
But as said you can buy a harness that has the Electronic incorporated into it and you can also get the 2 field charging system ...assuming M+H does that style also .

I patched up the 68 dart /6 harness i had when I swaped to SB.
I just used the upgrade voltage reg for the 1 feild wire alt,then used a pertronix points conversion with the pertronix flame thrower coil,by-passed the BR for a full 12 volts to the coil.
even had the 68 alt it came with,no more dim lights/discharge at low idle.
i did upgrade the batt wire and wire from relay to starter to 1 gauge cable,that spun the stock /6 starter on the SB pretty good after that.
I vote fix what you got

Here is a little bit of info for you, the slant six and big block harness have the same part number... I try and use the original and repair it instead of going with new wiring unless it is totally trashed, can't beat the factory stuff! As said above, every year changed enough that it is hard to swith between years unless you know your stuff!

I was just funning you .
I have gone the same way as you in the past ... Pertronics , but the new stuff is made in china and I have seen enough people have a negative experience with them now that it's no longer a viable alternative to me , the 2 setups I have are many years old and made in the good ole USofA , but that doesn't stop me from having a points distributor, coil and ballast handy on a long trip just in case .

Ever consider just runnng new wires? I bought all new connections for the engine side of the bulkhead. Ran each wire 1 at a time. There really isnt that much to it. Did the MAD conversion, batt relocation, denso alt, headlight relays, MSD under the dash, blah blah blah. Point is, it's all quite simple(I'm no pro, believe me) make good connections and solder everything. AND it was fun and way cheaper. Just another option to consider
